JUNG HOON SHIN
ABOUT

My name is Jung Hoon Shin, and I am a product designer and tattoo artist based in Los Angeles, California. My journey in design was in Seoul, South Korea, where I was immersed in the world of fine arts. Growing up with a deep passion for both drawing and creating, I discovered my love for building tangible things that blend function with aesthetics. This led me to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts at California College of the Arts, specializing in Industrial Design, where I honed my skills in transforming ideas into meaningful and innovative products.

In addition to my work in product design, I am also a dedicated tattoo artist, channeling my artistic vision into a unique medium with a long, rich history. This dual expertise allows me to approach design with a unique perspective, combining technical precision with an artistic touch that reflects my diverse creative background.

With a strong foundation in art and design, I believe that good design can improve lives and evoke emotion, whether through a functional product or a meaningful piece of art.

PROGRAM SKILLSET

Autodesk Fusion 360
My process for 3D CAD modeling starts with Alias and Fusion 360. For surface heavy models I use Alias and for precise engineering and modeling by parts I use Fusion 360.

Blender

KeyShot
I started with KeyShot, a more beginner-friendly rendering for still shots. However, I moved on to Blender for more control with lighting and camera movements for product animations.

Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Lightroom
All renders are finalized with Photoshop and Lightroom for image corrections. All animations are finalized with either After Effects or Premiere, depending on the style of editing is required.

My journey as a tattoo artist is deeply rooted in my lifelong passion for art. With a fine arts background and a love for drawing that began in childhood, I have always been captivated by the power of visual storytelling. My formal training started with an apprenticeship at 4xtattoo in Seoul, South Korea, where I gained a strong foundation in tattooing techniques and studio professionalism.

Throughout my career, I have explored a variety of creative disciplines, from mastering computer programs and coding to working with woodworking machinery. Yet, nothing has challenged me more than the tattoo machine. Despite its seemingly simple design, a needle powered by a motor, tattooing demands a profound level of precision, patience, and artistry to master.

Now based in Los Angeles, I am dedicated to refining my craft while remaining humble in the face of everything there is still to learn. Each piece I create is an opportunity to connect with clients and bring their visions to life through a medium that is as personal as it is permanent. I approach every tattoo with an open mind, striving to ensure that my work reflects both artistry and individuality. With every new challenge, I grow as an artist, deeply grateful for the trust my clients share with me.
